OVERVIEW
This second Annual Meeting of the Future Circular Collider study brings together the leading minds in engineering and science to exchange information about the design progress and to set the goals for the coming year. On this occasion, dedicated technology R&D programmes ready to be launched at the international level, or already launched, will be presented. The FCC Week 2016 will follow the traditional layout of plenary and parallel sessions. Contributions are by invitation only and selected topics will be considered for publication in the Phys. Rev. ST - Accelerators & Beams (http://journals.aps.org/prstab) peer-reviewed journal. An open poster session provides a platform to showcase visionary new concepts and technologies with significant impact on the further study and of high importance for the convergence of globally distributed activities. A panel will select the most innovative contribution with highest transformative potential, i.e.promising breakthroughs beyond the current state-of-the-art (1: innovation), the contribution with highest potential impact on industry and society (2: impact) and the contribution with the highest relevance for the technical feasibility studies (3: relevance).
Plenary sessions feature overviews of the progress in the individual study domains and will present the consolidated baselines that serve as basis for the further detailed elaboration phases. Parallel sessions focus on specific areas of the study to enable communication of key findings of ongoing work with significant impact on the forthcoming activities.

Satellite meetings concerning dependent activities such as the EuroCirCol H2020 project and governance bodies such as the International Collaboration Board will complete the program.

Participation of industry and potential future partners is highly encouraged.

Topics focus on developing the physics opportunities at the energy frontier hadron collider, the intensity frontier lepton collider and at a hadron-lepton interaction point. This efforts aims at forming a globally unified vision of converging activities, exploring all scenarios as a single coherent activity, identifying synergies, common tools and methods. The agenda foresees three days of parallel sessions dedicated to present and discuss recent findings in theoretical physics and to identify paths to be pursued further in the coming year.

Parallel sessions on detectors aim at developing baselines for concepts for experiments at the FCC-ee and FCC-hh colliders. Specific contributions shed light on the anticipated performance requirements and challenges, on constraint finding from machines, infrastructures and technological limitations as well as technology paths to be considered.

2015 saw various reviews of the FCC-hh and FCC-ee concepts having led to consensus on initial operation parameters and upgrade scenarios. These sessions present the baseline layouts, status of optics and lattice design work and give an overview of the work in progress and the challenges ahead. Attention will also be given to the studies of the interaction regions, including the particular aspects of a lepton-hadron interaction point. Heavy ion operation at a hadron collider will also be included.

Infrastructures

Civil Engineering saw much progress in 2015 leading to a baseline for the site-specific aspects of the collider footprint. Results and ongoing work is presented and the next investigation steps are sketched out. Also, findings concerning power consumption, cryogenics needs and R&D towards sustainable infrastructures, reliability and availability methods and tools, safety and protection aspects, transport, access, HVAC, and several other topics are on the agenda.

Contributions concerning technologies that require to be pushed in order to render a future circular collider both technically and economically feasible are showcased. In particular, recently established or upcoming R&D activities are presented and the need for further actions is analysed. Results from ongoing research and indications for directions to be further pursued are shown.

The annual meeting is the occasion for the FCC International Collaboration Board and the EuroCirCol Collaboration Board meetings as well as the respective Steering Committee meetings. Advisory boards for both Consortia will be established at the occasion of this event. The Collaboration Boards will receive an overview of the geographically distributed and topically complementary contributions of each participant, the status of the work commitment and will incite collaboration partners and candidate partners to engage in specific research activities. A meeting of the FCC Communications Network gives an overview of the recent activities, achievements and presents the ongoing outreach activities and channels for which involvement of from each collaboration partner is highly appreciated. A dedicated working group on gender equality takes place to review the current status of gender balance in the project with a focus on the commitment via the EC H2020 Grant Agreement. Specific support instruments for female scientists and how to strengthen their participation in large-scale international research activities like the FCC will be discussed.

Keynote Speaker: Massimo Florio, Professor of Public Economics and Jean Monnet Chair Ad personam of EU Industrial Policy
In his talk, Prof. Florio will present a cost-benefit analysis model for the LHC that he and his team in the Department of Economics of the University of Milano have developed. Moreover, Prof. Florio will discuss the possible development of this model to take into account the impact of a potential Future Circula Collider.
